Ahhh mashed potatoes! Who doesn’t love a scrumptious serving of mashed potatoes? Getting it right can be a different matter altogether. You may have tried and failed in the past several times yielding nothing but a runny mess! Don’t worry, if you want to really impress your guests and achieve mashed potato so good it will knock them straight off their chair in shock then follow the below tips and avoid any more disasters!

RECEPIE 1 – Mashed potato with garlic infused oil
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes – 1 hour
Serves: 4 people max

This tastes as delicious as it sounds! First, you’ll need 900g of peeled potatoes and 2oz of butter. Cut your potatoes into chunks and add them to the saucepan. For the garlic oil, you will need salt and black pepper for taste, 3 cloves of garlic and 1-heaped tablespoon of olive oil. Pop half this mixture over the potatoes in the saucepan and then cover completely with boiling water. Add the lid back onto the pan and allow them to gently simmer for around 25 minutes. When the potatoes are cooked (soft in the center), strain the water from them and mash them a little adding the butter before using an electric whisk to create a smooth and creamy texture. Finish by adding a little more salt and pepper for taste and the second half of the olive oil mixture and mix again.

RECEPIE 2 – Pesto mashed potato
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 10 – 30 minutes
Serves: 2 – 3 people max

For this mouth-watering recipe, you will need 900g of peeled potatoes and 2oz of butter to start. You will need 1 small tub of your favorite pesto sauce, be it green pesto, red pepper or sundried tomato, anything that takes your fancy really as all flavors will work. Cut up the potatoes and add them to a saucepan and cover with boiling water, add in a little salt and freshly ground black pepper and let them cook for around 25 minutes. When the potatoes are cooked strain the water out and leave for around 5 minutes. Add your butter and pour over your jar of pesto and mash the potatoes by hand or use a whisk. When the mixture is ready add in a little but ore salt and fresh pepper to taste.

RECEPIE 3 – Basic mashed potato
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Serves: 2 – 3 people max

Grab 900g of peeled potatoes and 2oz of butter to start. Bring a pot of salted water to boil and add the potatoes chopped and skinned. Leave to cook for 25 minutes. Remove the potatoes and strain the water. Add potatoes to a bowl and add 1 cup of milk and your butter, which you have ideally melted first. Whisk up the mixture until it is smooth and creamy and serve with a sprinkle
